Well, it's a TV show that originally aired on KTMA(an independent station in Minneapolis), it then moved to The Comedy Channel, then The Comedy Channel and HA! merged to become Comedy Central, then Comedy Central started smokin' some funny stuff and cancled MST, and finally The Sci-Fi Channel saved MST! New episodes/experiments will begin in Febuary. What's It All About? The Theme Song basically tells the story, but I'll do a cliff's notes version... here it goes: Okay, this janitor named "Joel Robinson", worked in this place called "Gizmonics Institute". His two bosses, "Dr. Clayton Forrester" and "Dr. Larry Erhardt" didn't like him, 'cause he came up with better inventions than they did... So, like any mad scientists would do, they shot joel into space. The Mads, went underground... literally, they moved into "Deep 13", the sub-basement of Gizmonics(a highly radioactive area, Joel cleaned up a spill there once). Joel was forced to watch really bad movies, while the "Mads"(his 2 bosses) watched him watching the movies, so they can gather information on how to rule the world. Joel really can't stop the movies, mainly because, he, being the wise inventor that he is, took the extra parts to make some robot companions. He made Crow T. Robot(the gold fella), Beeper(who became Tom Servo... the gumball machine), and Gypsy(the big purple one who doesn't usually watch the movies). There is aslo Cambot, who was built by the mads so they can watch Joel, and there's Magic Voice, don't know where she came from... she just appeared(vocally). Joel, Tom Servo, and Crow watch the movies and make fun of them, while Cambot records them watching the movie, and Gypsy controlls the "Higher Functions" of the Sattellite they orbit the earth in, named "the Sattelite Of Love"(SOL). In season 2, episode 1: Dr. Erhardt was reported missing, and a new guy was there named "Frank"(soon to be called "TV's Frank"). In season 5, episode 12: the mads(Frank and Forrester) were being audited, so they hired a temp named "Mike Nelson" to help them clean, and file stuff... they didn't like him, so they started plotting on how to kill him. Gypsy overheard them plotting, and thought the were talking about Joel, so she and Mike started looking for ways on how to help Joel escape. Mike found an escape pod(named "Deus Ex Machina", disguised as a crate of hamdingers in dock 14). in the SOL's manifest. Mike released access of the pod to the SOL by inserting the key he got from Frank into a techtronic panel and entering the sequence c:\cd\manual.exe... anyway, Joel got out and the mads hit Mike over the head and sent him up in Joel's place. In season6, episode 24: Frank was taken on a voyage beyond the physical realm of earth, by "Torgo the White". In season 7, episode 1: Forrester's mother, "Pearl", came to stay with him and help him with his plan to rule the world. In season 7 episode 6: Dr. F. lost his funding, and was moving back in with his mother. He released the SOL, and it began to drift towards the edge of the universe. When the SOL finally reached the edge of the universe, Mike and all the bots left their bodies and became pure energy. Forrester(in a parody of 2001) grew old and then became an infant, where his mother stated that she had another chance to do things right. Mike and the 'bots return to the SOL, where Crow has been redecorating, and much time has passed, it is now the year 2525. There is something about Crow that is just "different". Anyway the SOL approaches a planet they soon find out is earth, only it is hte earth of the future, where apes have evolved from man. The ape's law giver is none other than Mrs. Pearl Forrester. She raised her son right, and on his deathbed he asked her to keep the experiment going. After Pearl died she had her body frozen. The apes thawed her out and cured her. And the experiment continues. In the meantime, Crow gets his shark hooks on soem nanites, who do minor repairs on the ship, then go on strike (damn union folk). While Mike and the 'Bots are stuck in the future earth's orbit, the apes fix their human, neighbor's thermo nuclear device/god (if you've seen "Beneath the Planet of The Apes", you'll get this). When Mike learns of this he calls for the nanites to get to work... of course they can't find the work order, but they eventually do and fix the SOL. Mike drives away from the planet, but right behind him is none other than Pearl, in her VW van, with Professor Bobo (Ape Professor), as a stowaway. As Mike and his 'Bot clan try to escape Pearl, they are drawn to a planet, where three pale men, who call themselves the Observers, are waiting to study the primitive amoebas (Mike, Crow, Tom, Gypsy, Pearl, and Bobo). The Observers have evolved beyond real bodies, they carry their brains in a petri dishes, but for some reason they need host bodies... you figure it out. Well, the Observers plan to dissect everyone when they are done observing. They give everyone tests, of which Tom only missed one answer, due to a decimal misplacement. The Observers decide he would make a good Observer, they also realize that his score was higher than Observer's. So, Observer and Observer put Observer's brain in the enrichment chamber, whoch Bobo later mistakes for a refridgerator, and he takes a few bites out of Observer's brain, mistaking it for some kind of sandwhich meat. But don't worry, he tapes Observer's brain back together, and Observer seems to be just fine. (Source: http://www.msu.edu/user/dalenwil/about.htm on 5/26/01)
