Ed Wood is considered by many to be the worst Film Maker in the history of Movies. A damaging tag, for a director, writer, producer, cinematographer and actor, who just wanted to be known as a film maker. This reputation would follow him the rest of his life, only adding to his sad decline from Horror / Sci-fi Flicks to tawdry and tasteless Porno Films. Ed was to use many pseudonyms in his career, mainly for writing credits. They were Johnny Carpenter (II), Daniel Davis (III), Edward Davis (III), Don Miller (II), Akdon Telmig, Akdov Telmig and Ed Wood. Ed's Filmography is quite extensive. In his career Ed wrote over 30 scripts, a total of 39 (including Novels). He also directed 16 known films (Including shorts), and acted in 12 of his own films. "Glen or Glenda" was Ed's coming out film. Not coming out as in premiere but coming out as in coming out of the closet. Ed was transvestite. Glen or Glenda was Ed Wood's feelings and thoughts, his life on film. Ed's Girlfriend at the time Dolores Fuller played that role in the film. In the movie as was in real life she often wondered why her cashmere sweaters were stretched. Hmmm? Guys,Girls,Guns,Satin undies and Electrode Animated Corpses - ed's Films had it all. Classic film titles, such as: "Night of the Gouls", "Orgy of the Dead", "Bride of the Monster", "Necromania" and his most famous film "Plan 9 from Outer Space". Ed shot Bride of the Monster on a budget of $12,000 and finished shooting in only 7 days. During the making Ed ran out of money and had to stop shooting. Lucky for Ed he ran into a rather wealthy Meat Packer named Donald McCoy who backed the film. Donald agreed as long as his son Tony Mc Coy could play the lead. During the making due to financial ups and downs and the need for a Monster for the film, the crew broke into Republic Studios late one night and stole a mechanical Octopus, but in their haste forgot to take the mechanics with them; which now leaves us with one of the funniest pieces of film footage. This involves a Bela Lugosi (at this stage in his life rather sick from drugs) pretending to be attacked by the Monster as he grabs it's tentacles trying to make it look like it moves and while screaming for help from the murderous beast. Another classic Ed Wood spectacular, was in Plan 9 From Outer Space when the attacking aliens having been beaten by the humans fly off in their burning wreck of a saucer. The look Ed achieved is something similar to two paper plates being doused in Turpentine, hung from a string and set alight to signify the UFO going up in flames. But all this is what makes Ed Wood films the Cult Classics they are now. Sex Education, was Eddie's money making scheme in 1975. Sex Education Correspondence School - Pendulum Publications /SECS Productions. A series of twelve super 8 films, approx. 20 minutes each, written and directed by Ed Wood and Charles Anderson. Ed also wrote several books delving into various desires and sexual appetites namely "Bloodiest sex crimes of History", "Suburbia Confidential", The Gay Underworld", "Sex, Shrouds & Caskets", "Sex Museum", "The Love of the Dead", "One, Two,Three", "A Study of the Sons & Daughters of Erotica", "Sexual Practices in Witchcraft & Black Magic", "Black Myth", "The sexual Woman, Book 2", "The Sexual Man, Book 2", "A Study of Fetishes & Fantasies", "A study in the Motivation of Censorship, Sex & the Movies, Book 1", "A study in the Motivation of Censorship, Sex & the Movies, Book 2". Most were written under pseudonyms as was the case for the pornographic/sexually explicit writers of the time. (http://homes.acmecity.com/thematrix/switch/316/index3.htm)
